I’m a sucker when it comes to Ben Mezrich books. The style of story-telling and the sheer audacity of some of the adventures is a near-perfect mix!
In “Sex On The Moon” Mezrich takes us behind the scenes of one of the most audacious heists in history when he tells the story of Thad Roberts who goes out of his way to steal “moon rocks” from one of NASA’s most secure facilities. Why did he want to steal something which is so valuable it is illegal to own? To impress a girl of course…
If you are familiar with Mezrich’s writing style, you will know that his books are firstly easy to read and secondly the characters have a very “real” feel to them. You get detail without feeling like you are being bogged down. This book is no exception.
I did a bit of Googling for Thad Roberts and to try and I came across to THIS link on the FBI website which outlines the story a bit further.
LOVED this book and would chalk it up as one of the most entertaining I have read in the last few months and would thoroughly recommend it for anybody looking for something light and easy to read.

This is one of those genres that you either love or hate. Personally the closest I get to Sci-Fi is something like Dean Koontz, although he has drifted a bit in the last few books, but every now and then you’ll find something that grabs the mind.
Blogger Christian Nilson has put together the following list of 5 “must-reads” in the sector. Do you agree? I found it a little predictiable?? Perhaps there is something you can add to the list?
If you are looking for new books to add to your reading list here are five novels that everyone should read. These novels are classics that have really pushed the boundaries for the science fiction genre.
I, Robot by Isaac Asimov – The first collection of Asimov’s fantastic robot short stories which are all tied together with a common theme. In this collection we are first introduced to Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics: 1 – Don’t kill people, 2 – Do what people tell you (except kill them), and 3 – Don’t destroy yourself (unless it’s to save someone). The stories explore what the implication of the different laws are and describe the interaction between them, possible problems and the most scary of all – what happens if a robot doesn’t have the laws programmed into it at all.

This is an odd book.
Neither my wife nor I could quite work out the conclusion to it, but we both agreed that it’s a very enjoyable book.
First up, let me say that neither of us are really into the fantasy genre. We can probably do a bit of science fiction if it is mixed in with a thriller, but I can’t say that I would actively go out and look for a book like this.
I came across the title on Kindle and was intrigued by the reviews because a big part of the book is actually centred around some rather clever photographs. On further research I found the book was picked as one of the Top 10 books so far on Amazon. Considering how many books there are out there, that is a helluva an achievement.

The write up for the book reads:
As a kid, Jacob formed a special bond with his grandfather over his bizarre tales and photos of levitating girls and invisible boys. Now at 16, he is reeling from the old man’s unexpected death. Then Jacob is given a mysterious letter that propels him on a journey to the remote Welsh island where his grandfather grew up. There, he finds the children from the photographs–alive and well–despite the islanders’ assertion that all were killed decades ago. As Jacob begins to unravel more about his grandfather’s childhood, he suspects he is being trailed by a monster only he can see. A haunting and out-of-the-ordinary read, debut author Ransom Rigg’s first-person narration is convincing and absorbing, and every detail he draws our eye to is deftly woven into an unforgettable whole.

I’m normally wary when it comes to African adventure / thrillers reads as they tend to be pretty rough, but The Informationist by
Taylor Stevens is a seriously impressive read.
What impressed me even more was that when I tweeted about the book, I got a personalised response from Stevens saying thanks for the exposure… Tech really is amazing.
Here’s the story line:
Vanessa “Michael” Munroe deals in information–expensive information–working for corporations, heads of state, private clients, and anyone else who can pay for her unique brand of expertise. Born to missionary parents in lawless central Africa, Munroe took up with an infamous gunrunner and his mercenary crew when she was just fourteen. As his protege, she earned the respect of the jungle’s most dangerous men, cultivating her own reputation for years until something sent her running. After almost a decade building a new life and lucrative career from her home base in Dallas, she’s never looked back.
Until now.
A Texas oil billionaire has hired her to find his daughter who vanished in Africa four years ago. It’s not her usual line of work, but she can’t resist the challenge. Pulled deep into the mystery of the missing girl, Munroe finds herself back in the lands of her childhood, betrayed, cut off from civilization, and left for dead. If she has any hope of escaping the jungle and the demons that drive her, she must come face-to-face with the past that she’s tried for so long to forget.
A bloody good read and rated it a 4 out of 5!

Gardner has to be one of the most under-rated crime writers around. Her stories are original, her characters are believable and most importantly you keep wanting to come back for more.
Annabelle Granger has spent her life on the run, her childhood a blur of new places and fresh aliases. Now 30, she is living quietly in Boston – until she opens the paper and finds herself declared dead. At an abandoned mental institute, the bodies of six girls have been discovered.
And one of them has Annabelle’s locket. Working with detective Bobby Dodge to unravel a decades-old riddle, Annabelle embarks on a desperate collision course with her past – where a killer has been waiting years to find her, and there’s no place left to hide.
There is a cracking conclusion to this one as well so you’ll be intrigued to the end.
We rated the book a four out of five and if you enjoy your crime thrillers then this one of the e-reader or bookshelf!
